Free, dictionary updates are available anytime you want to retrieve them. Just select the "Check for dict update" menu choice.
Using iXWord does not require an Internet/phone plan connection except for dictionary downloading and word sharing.
Requires Android 1.5 or greater.
What happens after I install iXWord?
After iXWord is installed and is launched the first time it tries to contact the iXWord server to download its dictionary. If your Android is not connected to the Internet iXWord will give a message and close. If connected iXWord will connect to the server and download the dictionary. A progress meter shows the status of the download (which can take from two to five minutes depending upon connection speed).
How do I set the number of letters iXWord is searching for?
Touch and drag the slider bar left or right. Completely to the left is two letters. Completely to the right is “any number of letters”. One notch back to the left is 31 letters. iXWord can search for words with 2 to 31 letters or “any number of letters.”

How do I enter letters for searching?
Touch any of the letterboxes and use the keyboard to enter the letter. Letters can be entered in any position in any order and can be changed at any time. iXWord will show you possibilities as letters are entered. Entering fewer letters shows more possibilities and entering more letters shows fewer possibilities.
What if I cannot see all the letters?
Simply touch anywhere on the letter boxes and drag left or right to bring the letters you want onto the screen.
What is the Add/Share a word menu choice?
Selecting the “Add/Share a word” menu choice shows a screen for adding your own words to the dictionary. Enter your word and press the Add button. If the word is not already in iXWord it will be added and displayed in the added words list.
Touch any entry in the added words list, hold it for a couple of seconds and the Remove or Share menu will pop up.

The Share choice is cool because it sends the word to the iXWord server for including in the next dictionary update. The dictionary grows because iXWord users are always adding words. Dictionary updates are free!
The Remove choice will remove the word from your list of added words.
What is the Check for dict update menu choice?
This menu choice displays a screen for contacting the iXWord server to see if an updated dictionary is available. If one is available you can press the download button to retrieve the update. A progress meter shows the status of the download (which can take from two to five minutes depending upon connection speed).
If your Android already has the latest iXWord dictionary a message like this will be displayed.

What if I see a “Force close” message?
We have tried hard to make sure such a message will ever appear. But if it does then press the Force close button and restart iXWord. Nothing is harmed or lost.
What about the sdcard?
iXWord requires that an sdcard be in your Android. If one is not available iXWord will display a message and close
How many entries are in the dictionary?
iXWord has over 2.1 million entries in the dictionary. That number is growing all the time as users share words! Be sure to check for updates from time to time.
Why are there so many answers when I enter a few letters?
iXWord has a huge dictionary. Most words you’ll ever want are likely already in it. Entering just few letters means there are lots of possibilities. Enter more letters in more positions to shorten the answer list. You can scroll the answer list by touching with your finger and sliding it up or down.
How do I connect my Android to the Internet so iXWord can communicate with its server?
Usually your Android phone is always connected to the Internet with a 3G or 4G network connection from your cell phone service provider. You can also connect by using a Wi-Fi hotspot (which is really fast!). See the directions that came with your Android phone.
What kind of Android phone will iXWord work with?
iXWord will work on any Android with system version 1.5 or later.
Does iXWord require an Internet connection?
iXWord needs an Internet connection only to down load the dictionary, check for dict updates or to Share words. Otherwise no Internet connection is needed or used.
Why are some or all of my Added words gone after a dictionary update?
Words no longer appear in your Added words list if they are in the main dictionary. You or someone else has previoulsy shared the word(s) and they have become part of the dictionary and so are no longer listed on the Added words screen.
